About Us

Select Lunch was created in 2008 to address the challenges related to offering catered lunches for pre-school students, while improving customer satisfaction and giving the school a competitive edge in their market. The challenges faced include the burden of administration of orders changes to orders, accounting of monies, the handling of sales and income taxes. Select Lunch support helps improve parent satisfaction.

Thomas Zavaleta, the president of Select Lunch, developed the concept of a web based preschool ordering solution using his 20 years of experience in delivering technology solutions for real world problems. His experience at companies such as Deloitte Consulting included the development of business applications from small to large-scale enterprise systems.

Thomas collaborated with his colleague Jim King, a retired 25 year veteran of IBM, as a subject matter expert and to launch the idea. The concept was piloted in Atlanta, Georgia. Based on that success Select Lunch was launched to other schools in over 15 markets in the US.

The Select Lunch solution has allowed owners, directors, and teachers to focus more of their time and energy on the marketing and operational side of the business. School staff and parents are delighted with the service. The system continues to be enhanced based on feedback provided by parents and schools.

Select Lunch provides a convenient, web-based, lunch ordering service for pre-schools.  A parent can order using a browser from any location, 24 hours a day. Parents securely pay on-line using both credit and debit cards. This intuitive solution empowers parents to order standard or vegetarian, hot, nutritious, healthy meals for their child. This establishes a solid foundation for overall student development. The menus vary from market-to-market

Providing parents Choice to order a hot nutritious lunch on-line, Select Lunch is a easy way to increase parent and staff satisfaction. There is no charge to the school for use of the service.

Over 1,000,000 meals have been ordered and served using the system. The system is now being launched across the United States.
